Whitey Bulger, and his crisis of identity once captured and put in jail june 22 2011

In the book, “Whitey Bulgeramazon: America’s Most Wanted Gangster and the Manhunt That Brought Him to Justice”, written  by Kevin Cullen and Shelley Murphy, there are a lot of particulars regarding the capture and the psychological condition lived by Whitey Bulger once captured and put again in jal that june 22 2011.

I will analyze now what happened after his capture thanks to this new stunning book by Kevin Cullen and Shelley Murphy.

As said before and like reported by the two former journalists and writers of the Globe, Whitey felt a new life was starting for him after he escaped the indictment in Boston in 1995. A different life for sure and for good.

More than apparently he started to fall in love for this life, crimeless.

So, one’s Whitey’s first reactions once captured and arrested june 22 2011 whitey with his long-term companion Catherine Greiggreig.r, was to write from jail to all his friends and neighbors in Santa Monica trying to explain to them:

I am not the guy and monster they’re telling I am“.

Neighbors and friends were in fact still shocked for the discovery that that man who loved to walk everyday wearing a hat and sunglasses, was a fearful killer and a very big and known mafioso.

Sure: Charlie Gasko wouldn’t never have had any interest in committing any crime at all, in fact. Charlie Gasko was a peaceful man maybe not the sunniest man existing in this world but a good man for neighbors.

Whitey was so worried for the good and maybe lost reputation he had built during the years being back to his old and real identity with so much prepotency. He added in the letters sent to his friends and neighbors he loved his companion, Catherine Greig (alias Carol Gasko) and he would have wanted to be back with her at the Princess Eugenia in Santa Monica. I don’t doubt it for a second he was telling the truth.
He added, as reported by the colleagues of The Globe in their very interesting book: “Funny but the happiest years were the 16 years on the lam. Quiet life, no crime, like a 16 year honeymoon. . . . Memories keep me sane.”

The other identity, once revealed to the world thanks to the capture, too much difficult to accept. It was like to be back to an old horrible past with all the consequences it would have meant. Trials, jail, without to being supported by anyone, because he wasn’t anymore Charlie Gasko but realistically a terrible, legendary mafioso whitey 4 bulger whitey 8 whitey 5 whitey 6 whitey 7 whitey 3who terrorized South Boston during the 70s and 80s.

F.B.I. wanted to capture him so badly from a long time and paid as a reward for this information something like 2 millions of dollars. After Osama Bin Laden Whitey Bulger was the second most wanted domestic criminal and with the highest reward paid for the capture in the history of F.B.I.  for a domestic criminal.

And the future? Whitey is more than sure of his destiny. He wrote, as reported by the colleagues of the Globe in their book: “Chances are I’ll die in this cell“.

Why this characterial apparent weakness for this hard man? Well I think it’s a pretty normal reaction.

Whitey spent a long long time with another identity living another life. Maybe he thought he would have “peacefully” left forever his very heavy past behind him without to being anymore captured and so being loved and appreciated by the people he knew with his new identity.

Sure F.B.I. agents had found in his house an arsenal with 30 weapons although Whitey has been captured without any opposition.  Past was past for sure, but apparently some traces of it still around.

is filming in Boston and surrounding areas these month the first historically recontructiom of Whitey Bulger’s criminal life. Still nameless but called Black Mass, it is  in fact inspired by the book written by Gerard O’Neill and Dick Lehr: Black MassBlack Mass Book Cover: Whitey Bulger, the F.B.I. and a devil’s deal.

The two former’s journalists of the Boston Globe analyzed  in this book the interactions between Whitey with the F.B.I. still considered the biggest scandal in the Usa.
