All ready for filming in Gloucester Docks. Some worries from the local boaters. Sorted out.

Filming in the lovely locality of Gloucester Docks will start this august 18th for the new Disney’s sequel “Alice in Worderland: Through the looking glass” based on the second “chapter”, book and adventure lived by Alice on the children books written by Lewis Carroll.

The movie is directed by James Bobin.

Starring Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Johnny Depp

in the role of the Mad Hatter6568_1229965988693_1215413496_30685651_4339417_n , there is to say that the locality is ready for the arrival of the cast and crew.

Dredging work begun time ago at the historic docks for providing enough depth for the five historical ships.

There is, as always happens when the filming involve a city, a great excitement.

Sure some concerns has been expressed by local boaters because of the normal access to the docks the days of filming.

An answer arrived from the chairman of the Gloucestershire & Hereford Branch of the Inland Waterways Association: ““It is great news that the docks will be used for filming, but it is a serious issue for people who have planned the timing of their holidays and need to come in and out of the docks on a particular day”.

Not a very comforting statement, at the same time Nick Worthington of The Canal & River Trust’s (CRT) added: “”This a fantastic opportunity to bring some wonderful ships into Gloucester Docks. In an ideal world we would have had more notice and would do the dredging out of the main boating season.”

The CRT strongly denied boat movements would be restricted for the joy of boaters and he added that the place will be open anyway for three hours per day, allowing three or four lockages per hour with at least half a dozen boats per lock.

Ironically, the CRT just issued another statement saying water flow is continuing to be reduced in the area. The impact? A little delay to journeys…
