Will they be able to speak with our accent?

One of the most important questions when a big production film in Boston for the Bostonians is this one: “Will they be able to speak with our accent? Like us?”
And for the actors: “Will I be good enough and my accent accepted by Bostonians?”

The Boston’s accent is particular and citizens love it and they want it repeated with precision in movies.

Johnny 11037470_421228974717418_3470184447073379789_n Depp plays the role of the mobster Whitey Bulger.

Carla Meyer and Howard Samuelsohn the names of the lucky teachers, spent many weeks with the various actors for improving their accent.

The first order, because emotion plays in this case a bad role: “Not to think at the accent. Just speak naturally”.
It worked.

One of the main characteristic of the Boston’s accent? Dropping the “r”. Another, nailing down the sounds.

On set of Black Mass also a dialect couch.
