Whitey, money and memorabilia

Memorabilia about Whitey waiting for rich people

Whitey Bulger is in a prison in Florida with two life sentences plus 5 years, given to him after a trial last 2013, but for sure the fame of his crimes and people who wants to buy some objects once property of the criminal is the same one known for a fan of an actor or a singer.

To possess something of him for some people indispensable.

Black Mass starring Johnny Depp in the role of the mobster, helped the Ebay sellers.

The Boston Globe in various pieces last days remarked what it is going on these days that Black Mass is out on theaters. Not only that oceanic crowds are in line at the theaters of the city and the entire Massachusetts for seeing Johnny 11223635_953956104646758_8765598244982848423_n Depp in action as their mythical criminal Jimmy “Whitey” Bulger, but that some people are also selling, with the idea of creating great money some items referred to Bulger.

The same Bulger, do not forget it, suggested to a pen-friend of selling soon or late the letters exchanged with him because it would have been a good business.

So: who is selling and why?

Phil Castinetti is the owner of Sportworld in Peabody and he purchased once the orange jumpsuit of Whitey, the one portrayed in various sketches created during the trial of 2013.

Castinetti said to the Globe he purchased it from a Bulger’s cellmate various time ago.

The purpose, evidently, wasn’t the one of keeping it but to sell it at a big price when the wind could have been more favourable.

The item put it on sale started the bid with $25,000. The man added: “Me and my wife are at odds over this, but, look, I sell memorabilia. If I don’t buy it, someone else will”.

At the same time the brother of one victim, Steve Davis, brother of Debra Davis is selling various sketches created during the trial vs. Bulger in 2013.

He wants to help, he said, doing so, the families of the victims.

Interviewed by the Globe Patricia Donahue, his husband died killed by “Whitey” in 1982 with Halloran said to the Globe that according to her although the effort of Davis is “Good-hearted” to her the government should pay them for the damage received.

She also added at the Globe if Davis had consulted her she wouldn’t never approved or suggested an initiative like this one.
“I don’t want people to take it the wrong way” added the widow of Donahue.

It hasn’t never reached a verdict against Whitey Bulger regarding the murder of Debra Davis.

Davis bought four sketches from Collins but put on Ebay only the most valuable ones.

One is about the verdict and another a sketch telling the first moments after the capture of the criminal.

Jimmy “Whitey” Bulger was discovered in Santa Monica on june 2011 after 16 years on the run.

One sketch was offered for sale for $500,00.

At the same time a polemic was born with Andy Kahan, reports the Globe. He is a victims advocate. According to him no one should sell for making money any kind of item of any criminal. He calls these objects not anymore memorabilia but “murderabilia”.

Davis is not surprised by polemics.
Although Kahan suggested him of remarking that the money will go to the family of the victims of Bulger, Davis added to the Globe10929555_421228288050820_5264084193313585513_n 11143680_421228264717489_8379124047041460925_n: “I’m not going to give them away for peanuts. They’re all framed”.
