Here a picture with Johnny Depp/Whitey Bulger with Luke Ryan in the role of Douglas Glenn Cyr

Whitey Bulger has been a terrible mobster and killed a lot of people and caused sufferance introducing in South Boston various kind of drugs and other crimes as well have been committed by him and the Winter Hill Gang, but something beautiful was born from this man: a Douglas Cyr son.

Unwanted and unexpected. Unwanted not because Whitey Bulger didn’t love kids. No. It was because he understood that in his position a kid would have meant another problem for him.

He understood that he had chosen a life where kids and a regular family couldn’t be admitted.

Lindsey Cyr as it happened for the other molls of Whitey, fell in love profoundly for the mobster and after a while she became pregnant. Whitey clarified: “I don’t want other children!” for starting.

Lindsey accepted this ultimatum and in the while Douglas Glenn was born. The last name the one of the mother, and a friend of Lindsey Cyr recognized as biological dad the baby for avoiding any kind of speculation about the paternity of the baby and keeping the baby safe.

For Whitey this unexpected son became reason of joy.
He loved to spend his spare time with him and Lindsey.
The toddler was also brought a lot of times at the house of Bill Bulger, Whitey’s brother.
No one would have suspected that in 1973, the baby was born in 1967, for curing just a seasonal disturb he would be dead after a while because of the use of a common aspirin.

He was just six years old.
That son, the light in a tunnel of obscurity and horror that the same Whitey had created for himself and that he had chosen once. Now this light was gone, switched off. Forever. Too soon. Douglas alive only in his memories.

As this unexpected joy arrived bringing with it all the possible tenderness, the departure, shocking and devastating for the mobster.

The relationship with Lindsey Cyr continued for other seven years.

Whitey and Lindsey broke up in 1980.

Lindsey remained always affectionated to Whitey, and Whitey a constant presence in her life, surprising her at the end of 80s, calling her when he left Boston in 1995 because an indictment was ready for him at the local agency of the FBI, wind changed, and he needed to leave the city forever.

Whitey called her again in 2002-2003.

In 2010 Lindsey Cyr revealed at the Boston Globe in an exclusive interview that the real dad of Douglas Glenn was Whitey Bulger.

This son was dead from a lot of time and a secret like this one too heavy to be kept.

Once captured in Santa Monica on june 2011, Lindsey Cyr continued to support Whitey Bulger, and declared various times she can’t believe possible that the man she had falling in love with and with which she had had a son had committed according to most people all the horrors he has committed.

Enjoy the picture of Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger with the little actor in the role of Douglas Cyr.

The authors joyous for the movie Black Mass

Dick url

Lehr and Gerard Gerard O'Neill (Boston Globe pic from the premiere in Boston of BLack Mass ) O’Neill are the two journalists of the Boston Globe who wrote Black Mass in 2001, revealing the unholy alliance between Whitey Bulger and the FBI.

There is satisfaction in the two authors of the book for the movie Black Mass Johnny_.

Gerard O’Neill attended both the premieres: the Toronto International Film Festival one and later the Boston premiere yesterday night.

Gerard O’Neill is also one of the main protagonists in the movie Spotlight as well 🙂

Dick Lehr specified at the Globe: “The one of showbiz it’s not my world. It’s been interesting to see this come Director of Black Mass with Dick Lehr (Boston Globe pic, Lehr talking with Cooper when he played the role of himself in the movie as an extra) together, to see how a movie gets made, but I like what I do. I like writing books”.

Translated in many languages, Black Mass Black Mass Book Cover Black Mass new cover for Black Mass it’s a best-seller with a lot of…covers and the latest one the one with Johnny Depp in the role of the gangster.

Portions of their book deleted in the script although the authors: “That’s the nature of an adaptation. It’s different. It has to be”.

A fear of the authors? The romanticization of Bulger. Avoided.
O’Neill added that there hasn’t been any danger in that sense. “Scott Cooper doesn’t glamorize Whitey”.

Lehr adds that the story was a story of intense, unholy alliance between gangsters and FBI’s agents. “It’s the essence of Black Mass”.

Gerard O’Neill has been the chief of the team called Spotlight the one discovered the pedophile priests scandal for the first time in Boston. A scandal, another one discovered by the Boston Globe able to involving all the Catholic Church later, in every corner of the Planet.

As always: Bravi! Great work!

The Globe: Johnny “Contained and focused” in Black Mass

A movie the city will feel a lot

Ty Burr on September 14 released the review of Black Mass for The Boston Globe defining Johnny scary good as “Whitey” in Black Mass.

The movie Black Mass is based on the book written by former journalists of the Globe Dick Dick Lehr 7 Lehr and Gerard O’Neill Black Mass Black Mass Book Cover Whitey Bulger, the FBI and a devil’s deal.

It will be a problematic movie for the city, because Whitey Bulger was born in Boston and he is a son of Boston and it’s difficult to maintain the indifference and the calm considering who Bulger has been.

Plus the story is not a “cold case” and all the protagonists, apart the innocent ones lost their lives because in the wrong place in the wrong moment, all alive.

The trial against the mobster captured after 16

whitey
years on the run, he left Boston in 1995 and was discovered on june 21 2011, ended up with two life sentences and five years of jail.

At the same time there is curiosity for this movie because Bulger is part of Boston.

The movie was filmed in Boston last year and directed by Scott Cooper.

Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth have created a sort of Satan, portrayed with conviction by Johnny Johnny Venice Depp, man of many faces and characters.

Burr adds Johnny Depp is “Contained and focused”.

With great rapidity the departures of the various innocent victims of Bulger, Deborah Hussey, the girl knew too much, Michael Donahue who was giving an innocent passage at Halloran. Both killed. Halloran thought that staying closed to an innocent person would have avoided his death. Whitey killed both of them. Donahue waited for dinner died immediately. The family fell in the most profound desperation for this unexpected departure. There wasn’t any logical sense for the murder of their beloved one, apart the ferocity of heartless men. The moral code of the Winter Hill Gang, not killing innocent people if found close to people of the gang who, for a reason or another had to be killed, broken forever with the Halloran murder.

The movie plenty of violence. Bulger not anymore a person but a devil. The love-story at first inserted in the movie with Catherine Greig with which maybe it would have been possible to see some humanity cut out. Also the “weak” added Burr apparition of Dakota Johnson in the role of Lindsey Cyr and Douglas Cyr, the son Bulger had had from her and dead at just 6 years leaving the mobster in a profound pain, quick and not analyzed in profundity.

Who knows?

Maybe these characters and relationships left at the duo Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Maybe. Surely. Because if another story will be told of Bulger must be put under another perspective, where possible, of course.

According to the critic of the Globe Burr the movie doesn’t tell anything “that we don’t know” and at the Bostonians a special recommendation: “The movie’s good enough that you should see it if you want to. But you don’t have to, and, in these parts, that matters”.

Freedom of speech and expression in the case of Whitey Bulger

The Boston Globe yesterday released a wonderful piece about the power of criminals on common people.
The fascination that maybe exists behind these legendary criminals and the common people unable to do (thank Lord!) what that delinquents did for a living.

Let’s imagine a world of violence. It’s like to see the hell.

Maybe the identification can starts when a common individual would want to search for a physical revenge against someone, but couldn’t never do that. And so he can identifies him in the sad and evil gestures of the mobster. The violence in his imagination in the mobster become reality, action. Thinking better, isn’t it pretty scaring just this?

The main responsibility says the editorial our society: the creation of bad “myths” lately put on-screen.

It happens all the time that negativity become positivity in our culture from a certain time at this part, that’s why there is confusion and distortion of the reality.

Blood sells always and this one is a journalistic expression too true and known in the sector although I don’t think that the story of Bulger has been used because the various newsmagazines sold more copies, no, but because needed to be reported and there was the condition for reporting: freedom. This one priceless.

Boston is very well-connected with cinema as well. There are the “Two of Boston”: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Different personal life-stories but the two friends since their childhood and one of the best and united duo of the star-system. Friendship help always.

Boston considered a perfect place for a lot of important movies. I want to remember: Good Will Hunting with Robin Williams, but the list is endless.

Said that, the editorial of the Globe presented me an idea.

I want to tell you what happened when Johnny afforded in Boston for Black Mass.

I didn’t know Whitey Bulger,I didn’t want to learn anything of criminal organized associations. Never seen The Godfather, never seen yet The Departed. I don’t know anything of Al Capone. I hate the concept of italian mafia because of the omertà and the impossibility of speech and expression.

Freedom of speech and expression to me important like the air I breath.

I thought I would have “virtually met” the same omertà in Boston as well. Why world would have been different there?

This one wasn’t another story of another mobster? Right. So in a word: problems.

Plus: this mobster still alive. Mamma mia what a mess, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny!

I had always promised to myself I wouldn’t never have written anything of mafia and drug. They’re sensitive topics I leave without problems at more courageous reporters.

But with Johnny, you write of everything. Including sensitive topics like these ones.

With the dial-up I couldn’t search this world and the other and I didn’t have any interest to search for Bulger. The same last name with that “u” someone obscure.

I remember the first day Johnny was in Boston I asked to my Johnny’s contact: “How’s your daughter?” And her: “Good: why?” Oh, great! Just arrived and we feel the mafiosi atmosphere?

Sigh, I was figuring a dark scenario of months spent in the most complete omertà where the darkness of our thoughts would have covered all the beauty of the world.

Then, the miracle.

What I discovered when Johnny afforded in Boston, was that the Bostonians are warm people. Johnny visited the Brattle Book Shop. A prestigious reality.
Can you trust me if I say to you that the piece I wrote of Johnny’s visit at the Brattle Book Shop is, still is, the more liked one?

Then Johnny went at a local pizzeria of the city. The picture taken with the owner of the pizzeria let me reflect that that there was a lot of maturity in the people of Boston. That man close to Johnny wasn’t surprised to be close to the famous star Johnny Depp. His face calm, relaxed. He considered Johnny like another common guy. I thought: I love these people.

The second step was to try to find material involving the criminal Bulger.

I tried with the Globe with which I discovered a great connection.

Here, the biggest surprise: I could have had all the possible freedom of writing what I would have wanted to write because in Whitey Bulger’s story there hasn’t been any kind of omertà but the topic and the mobster treated in wagons of articles and books.

I became cheerful and relaxed!

Let me thank the customer care of The Boston Globe 🙂 for all the help received. They know why.

The story of Bulger captured me. His criminal life and his private life are like a script. You mustn’t add anything else at this story. It would be unnecessary.

You can’t think Whitey Bulger lived what and how he lived. A big criminal, then 16 years of common life, then the final capture. Two important women, a kid dead abruptly at 6 years from another woman. Involvement of the local Boston agency of the FBI. The disappearance of the italian mafia, thanks also to Bulger. The italian mafia in comparison to the Winter Hill Gang, much more innocent. A political brother important and influent, his final regret and the idea he spent a wasted life.

I felt the old sensations of the past. A genuine adrenaline. I wanted to discover more and more. A reporter knows what I want to say.
I needed it so badly! Bulger’s story meant to me a new re-born.

The Boston Globe the newsmagazine with which I fell in love for. It’s a strong love. I discovered a microcosm populated by wonderful people with touching stories, big hearts and poetry. Apart to be great journalists, and you can learn from them a lesson everyday, they’re also real good people and you “feel” them. Most of them tell something of their stories, their human problems, their ideas and who they are in their life and you start to appreciate them much more, where possible.
Reading their articles you discover their soul and they’re souls I love because I can see that there is a lot of humanity, a treat lost in too many people.

Thanks to them and thanks to the important reflection that that newsmagazine is for the city, we, journalists, are like mirrors for our places and our realities, I fell in love for Boston as well.

Thanks to them I discovered not only the story of Bulger, and how, in conditions of complete freedom as Boston’s reporters worked and are working, can be treated from a team of investigative journalists a story of a criminal organization like the Winter Hill Gang was or the italian mafia was, but I discovered an entire city, spectacular, fascinating and during the winter-time, plenty of snow!

Boston still feel the European origins and the past, so indispensable for understanding two crucial words like “now” and “tomorrow”. They go proud of it.
People are taken in serious consideration.

Every human being of Boston good or bad analyzed and considered a Son, loved and blamed and condemned but always a Son with the desire of saving and helping him. Impressive and beauty the Bostonians know something: no one is lost.
Boston is jealous of his Sons and of its story.
Boston is a city where there are institutions able to make a big difference in the world.
Harvard, the Boston University, the MIT…

Just few of the excellences in Massachusetts where there are great brains used for bettering the humanity with their own talents.

A scientific discovery made in Boston will affect the entire humanity. It can be a new vaccine, a new therapy for treating some important illness.
This one a priviledge of few places in the world.

Tomorrow the premiere of Black Mass in the city.

Let’s hope people will appreciate Scott Cooper’s Black Mass and the characterization given by Johnny Depp at Whitey Bulger. The luck of the irish maybe will bring back some popularity at Johnny after a long period of obscurantism.

This case is not cold and the relatives of the poor innocent victims killed by Bulger are still suffering for the departures of their loved ones and this one is the most painful part of all the story because a movie like this one can bring back sad memories and polemics as well.

The movie is based on the book Black Mass, Whitey Bulger the FBI and a devil’s deal written by the two former journalists of the Globe Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill.

Black Mass, thumbs up from Telluride!

Positive reviews at Telluride, North America

It was the most difficult part.

What would have happened when Venice apart, where Italians fall in love for actors and they are always happy to see Johnny johnny_depp_20 Depp around, Black Mass would have reached other important festivals in particular in America?

That the success would have continued.

Thanks to a great team, starting from director Scott Cooper and Johnny’s great characterization of Southie Boston mobster Jimmy whitey 23 “Whitey” Bulger b 10305170_715174711858233_8488680009552227727_n (Copy 1) 11037470_421228974717418_3470184447073379789_n 10929555_421228288050820_5264084193313585513_n 11143680_421228264717489_8379124047041460925_n , and the rest of wonderful actors, Black Mass is continuing to receive positive reviews from everyone although the movie is still not in the big screen.

Johnny Depp can also “risk” to capture an Oscar for his role as Bulger. And this time he wouldn’t snob this prize 🙂

It would be the complete “Luck of the Irish”.

Launched at Telluride on Saturday it is common opinion that Black Mass is well done and that all the people involved in this production, great.

Johnny is a good man, and maybe his characterization of Whitey Bulger so “felt” because when a person is good Johnny Venice

the exploration of an uncommon territory, like the one of cruelty is, more exciting and fascinating than anything else.

Another letter from Whitey Bulger. This time at the Boston Magazine

This time Bulger writes at the Boston Magazine

While Johnny johnny_depp_20 Depp is waited this week at the Venice Film Festival for the promotion of Black Mass Johnny_ out of competition this sept 4th the new coming soon movie by Scott Cooper about the life of South Boston mobster Jimmy whitey 4 “Whitey” Bulger, based on the book Black Mass: Black Mass new cover for Black Mass Black Mass Book Cover Whitey Bulger, the FBI and a devil’s deal by the former journalists of the Boston Globe Dick

Dick Lehr

Dick Lehr

Lehr and Gerard gerard o'neill O’Neill, from prison Whitey, 86 years, spend his time writing and sending letters.

The Boston Globe reported in an article of august 27th that the mobster sent a letter at the Boston Magazine. The reason? A change of address.

As also specified by The Boston Magazine, they received a letter written on monday may four 2015 from a Mr. James Bulger, m_whitey-boston-magazine_ (Boston Magazine picture) prisoner ID number 02182748, from the high-security U.S. penitentiary in Coleman, Florida.

James Bulger was requesting a change of address for the subscription of the magazine. A subscription Whitey treasures a lot.

“Look forward to your magazine”, James Bulger writes at the end of the, this time, brief communication.

The journalist of Boston Magazine Erick Trickey ends the piece writing: “Like other retired snowbirds we know, he is evidently relying on these pages to stay in touch with his hometown”.

In june in an exclusive article appeared on the Globe and written by Shelley Murphy, three smiling teenagers, The three teen-agers with Whitey Bulger's letter (Boston Globe picture) Mollykate Rodenbush, Brittany Tainsh, and Michaela Arguin revealed they had received a letter from Bulger. They had sent him a letter in jail previously with questions and informations regarding his criminal life.

They, in fact, were participating at The National History Day competition on leadership and legacy and picked up Whitey Bulger as historic character creating a website on him.

“We couldn’t send a letter to someone passed away” said the teenagers at the Globe, happy for Bulger’s reply.

The mobster wrote to the teenagers he “Took the wrong road” and they shouldn’t spend their time with someone like him.

Whitey added: “My life was wasted and spent foolishly, brought shame and suffering on my parents and siblings and will end soon”.

Whitey added he is not an example for anyone. There is not any “legacy” left from someone like him for the posterity.

“Don’t waste your time on such as I — we are society’s lower, best forgotten, not looked to for advice on Leadership”.

The third trailer of Black Mass judged positively by The Boston Globe

Posted in Uncategorized by Anna Maria Polidori on August 7, 2015

Thumbs up from the Globe

The third trailer of Black Mass appeared days ago. Another interesting trailer for a promising movie with real characters, in this Johnny’s movie.

Whitey Bulger, John Connolly, Will Bulger are real people like all the other characters you will see in this movie. Everyone still alive.

This one the first, real reconstruction of the story of the fight of the irish mob and the FBI it seems, VS. the italian mob. The desire from the FBI of defeating the italian mafia Cosa Nostra created by Jerry Angiulo desired a lot.

For this reason, the old friend of childhood of Bulger, John Connolly asked, it seems to Whitey Bulger to become an informant of the FBI. The legal strategy of Bulger denies Bulger has been an informant of the FBI.

While the italian mafia located in North End was defeated, and it was a pretty “calm” criminal association, strange and impossible to believe at first but true, in comparison to the one created by Whitey Bulger, Bulger became the most important, powerful and terrible mobster of Boston. It meant in this case murders, sufferance, drug.

Bulger has always had a lot of protections because as admitted the FBI during the trial against the members of the italian bosses of the italian mafia Angiulo in the 90s, he was an informants of the FBI like also Flemmi, an old friend of the FBI. Flemmi Rifleman was an informant of the local agency of Boston from 1965.

The Boston Globe in an article written by Kevin Cullen in 1988 launched this news: Bulger as an informant of the FBI. Reactions? The local agency of the FBI would have waited other nine years before to confirming that the FBI had as informants in their local agency Flemmi and Bulger. They confirmed it during the trial against the family Angiulo. At first, in 1988, it followed a lot of embarrassment from the FBI.

At the same time in 1995 the mobster Whitey Bulger was constricted to leave Boston forever and for good because an indictment was ready for him and others of his mostly loyal affiliates. The long reign of Bulger was ending and with him the Winter Hill Gang. Boston and South Boston was starting to build a new page in its history. For South Boston a new birth. Whitey for Boston became a ghost and the most common question became after Jimmy Bulger’s departure: “Where are you, Whitey?”. On the run, but…where?

What it was sure is that at first Whitey left Boston with Teresa Stanley one of his women, but later, Teresa, four children to growing up, preferred them to Whitey Bulger.

The plan B was Catherine Greig, the second affectionate Whitey’s lover. Kevin Weeks one of the affiliates of Bulger would have told later that moments and the incredible romantic, passionate reunion between the two lovers: the mobster and the girl.

For other 15 years Whitey stayed “secluded” in exclusive places. The latest one Santa Monica where he lived most of the time with Catherine Greig. It was a peaceful condition, Bulger with the time became friends with the various neighbors, and someone respected and loved by everyone. To him it was strained when on tv once captured they started to pictured him as a horrible criminal. From jail he wrote to all his neighbors: “I am not the man they are saying I am”.

Why Bulger was arrested? After all he had spent 15 peaceful years and no one disturbed him. Well The FBI once captured Osama bin Laden (at the top ten list of the most wanted criminals) focused later the attention on the second one, who became after the departure of Bin Laden the most wanted criminal: Whitey Bulger.

Two millions of dollars as a reward for everyone able to give informations able to let them capture the mobster good money and a new strategy, a new “key” of access for arriving to Bulger that, according to the Federals maybe could have paid as well: it was necessary not anymore focusing on Whitey Bulger but on his companion Catherine Greig.

They were right. Thanks to Cathy’s passion for stray cats, shared with an ex Miss Iceland 1974, Whitey was put directly in jail again and for the latest time.

The ex Miss Iceland Anna Bjornsdottir in fact once returned in the capital of his place Reykjavik, watching on tv the international CNN recognized the nice couple with which she was sharing moments in Santa Monica. But they weren’t who they said they were, the family Gasko, but the dangerous criminal Bulger and his companion Catherine Greig.

The trial couldn’t give any kind of escapism to Bulger: two life sentences plus 5 years.

While at the moment Bulger has requested thanks to his attorney Brennan a new trial and this time he wants to explain some facts, Black Mass, the first reconstruction of the real criminal and personal story will be launched for the first time in a Warner Br.production in the USA this next sept 18th and introduced in a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival at the beginning of next month.

Directed by Scott Cooper, with Johnny Depp johnny as Whitey Bulger, the other actors includes: Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rory Cochrane, Jesse Plemons, Kevin Bacon, W. Earl Brown, David Harbour, Dakota Johnson, Julianne Nicholson, Corey Stoll, Peter Sarsgaard, Adam Scott, and Juno Temple.

The third trailer convinced The Boston Globe although the newsmagazine added Johnny “looks exceedingly malevolent in the role of Bulger”.

Let’s hope that the Bostonians, jealous of their accent like also of their city and of their Sons, good or bad that they can be won’t notice if the accent of the various protagonists (all worried for it) is a Boston’s accent or not 🙂

Joel Edgerton in the role of John Connolly: “I still don’t know what the Bostonians are going to say about my accent. I’m just going to be sure I don’t pop into Boston until I find out whether I’m welcomed back or not“.

The movie is based on the book written by the two investigative reporters and writers of The Boston Globe: Gerard O’Neill and Dick Lehr, Black Mass: 9781782116233-Black-Mass-2-392x600 Whitey Bulger,518WXTD4LkL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_  the FBI and a devil’s deal.

Director Cooper said of Johnny Depp days ago as Whitey Bulger   10478167_294206720752978_7334248991399274460_n 10442990_294206704086313_332698468647131041_n 0 : “A lot of people on set knew Whitey Young Whiteywhitey 23 'Whitey' Bulger pictured in this undated photo bulger 30 (Bulger during the various phases of his exisgtence) intimately.

They got chills at Johnny’s resemblance. Some of them couldn’t even look at him. It’s easy to be the mustache twirling villain but this performance couldn’t be further from that. He is truly gifted”.

The movie script has been written by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth, produced by John Lesher, Brian Oliver, Scott Cooper, Patrick McCormick and Tyler Thompson. Executive producer: Brett Ratner, James Packer, Peter Mallouk, Ray Mallouk, Christopher Woodrow, Brett Granstaff, Gary Granstaff, Phil Hunt and Compton Ross.

World premiere of Black Mass in Venice at the beginning of september during the Venice Film Festival.

First reactions on Black Mass movie trailer from the relatives of the people killed by Whitey Bulger

Strong and respectable sentiments from the relatives of the people killed by the Bostonian gangster

The first reactions of the victims of the fury of Jimmy “Whitey” Bulger after the first clips of the movie introduced by Scott Cooper at CinemaCon and filmed last year in Boston during the summer-time as protagonist Johnny Depp in the role of Whitey Bulger, not too much positive as everyone would have imagined.

The Boston Globe interviewed Steven Davis brother of Debra Davis.
The movie is considered by him “Hurting. It’s still too new to the heart of people” he added.

What Steven Davis wishes is not to see a sort of glamorization of Bulger.

This one is the first reconstruction of Bulger’s life. All the people protagonists of the movie still alive, most of them convicted, other free, other in pain because Bulger killed some relatives.

May Black Mass be lived as a moment for remembering a part of Boston gone forever.

Whitey Bulger’s federal trial issued at least a verdict of “no finding” regarding Debra Davis’s death.

Bulger, accused of other 11 murders, drugs trafficking, extortion, is convicted in a Florida’s prison with two life sentences.

Kevin Cullen of the Globe, months ago didn’t hesitate to compare Bulger 11181839_422107524629563_434860139454374437_n whitey___ in one of his pieces regarding Bulger at Mr. Potter mr potter 2 Mr. Potter mr.potter 3 the character of the avid business man created by Frank Capra in the beautiful classic: “It’s a wonderful life” opposite to the one  portrayed by James Stewart, George Bailey. dreaming Clarence...  a wonderful life  it's a wonderful life 1 it's a wonderful life 2 It's a wonderful life 6

A guy with all the money in the world who is miserable” concluded the investigative reporter.
